The year 1971 marked a massive milestone for the Bug with the debut of the Super Beetle. Under the rear decklid sits the original, professionally maintained 1.6-liter (1600cc) dual-port air-cooled flat-four engine, which bumped factory output to a spirited 60 horsepower. Unlike standard Beetles, the 1971 Super Beetle features an upgraded MacPherson strut front suspension and improved, larger drum brakes. This completely transforms the driving dynamics, offering vastly superior handling, tighter cornering, and a significantly smoother ride. Our customer purchased this car from the Original owner, who was his neighbor when he was relocated to New York. The mileage is original due to the fact was on a farm and only driven in the area, no commuting. It has been repainted, the original paint looks to be a dark blue, the rest of the car is original as far as we know. The upholstery, headliner, dash, carpet, door panels are all in excellent condition for the year of the car. It starts right up, was driven 25 miles to our shop in the middle of the summer on a 97 degree summer day, with no issues. Of course all of the windows were down upon arrival.
